Product Description While the ukulele is enjoying a well-deserved renaissance on the mainland, in the land of it's birth, it has never gone out of style. Hawaiian's took to the "jumping flea" right from the start, creating music of stunning beauty and versatility. Now intermediate players can learn to play lovely finger style solo arrangements of classic Hawaiian songs, folk songs, standardseven a few pieces from the classical guitar repertoire. The book offers 27 arrangements from around the world written in standard notation and tablature playable on any ukulele. Songs are grouped according to level of difficulty, starting with simple arrangements well within the grasp of dedicated beginners and intermediate players and leading through more challenging songs featuring unusual chord voicings, inversions up the neck, tricky fingerings and "all the fun stuff" the author could muster. To aid the student, the companion CD includes all of the songs taught. Includes chord charts, inversion studies, introductory material on finger-picking and making the transition from strumming to melodic playing.

Good book, very good arrangements July 13, 2010 David Mc (RI) This is a great book for the beginner to intermediate student. I like the arrangements a lot and they are presented in tab as well as traditional staff music. This book is well worth the price and the CD quality is excellent.
Wonderful book and music May 15, 2010 Gallstone (NC, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I consider myself a beginner with the ukulele (Makala Tenor) and yet I found this book very useful. Even playing "Twinkle Twinkle Litte Star" for the first time fingerstyle was great. The CD itself is worth the money-it is beautiful music. I may never become fully proficient but just trying improves my ability to play. Highly recommended.
your second ukulele book March 9, 2010 Tula's first mate (Desolation Sound,B.C. Canada on vacation) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I like this book alot. It has just the information and careful direction that I need. I couldn't use it when I was learning my first chords, but soon there after it was the kind of music I wanted to learn to play with a mix of chords and single notes.
Become a Uke Duke! February 6, 2010 Yuri Reingold (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book elevates you from brainless strumming to intricate cross-picking. You need to have basic music-reading skills (like, know the seven notes on the staff and their lenghs). With enough practice, sounding like a pro is within reach. I hardly ever go for simple strums any more - why sound like a tinny toon, when you can channel Andre Segovia? (Well, almost... :-)
Great uke music July 17, 2009 Loni Simone (Republic, WA USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you're into fingerstyle solos, and you want to apply it to the ukulele, this book is for you. Since I already play fingerstyle with guitar and banjo, it helps I know, but the uke is such a user-friendly instrument I think a beginner can be playing songs in little time. Start off with the old favorite 'first song', 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' to get you ready, and then to folk tunes and Hawaiian tunes that you really want to play on the uke. Tabs will help the non-musical notation reader. The companion CD will help you get familiar with the tunes and is just great to listen to.
