My Dummy Book August 25, 2010 raquel When I received the book it looked perfectly new and it's easy to understand (even if you call yourself a dummy). I was having a problem with learning how to fret the guitar but with the book I got the job done and I hope to learn more while I continue reading.

Amazing Book!!! June 10, 2010 T. L. Anderson (Nebraska) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Okay, so I ordered this book because I wanted to learn how to play the guitar. This books came in FAST time, and it came in PERFECT condition. Some of the other reviews were talking about how the CD was broken. Well mine was in perfect condition. Its a huge relief. The book itself is pretty understanding if your like me and know NOTHING about about playing the guitar or anything musical. I do sing. But that is far different than playing the guitar. I HIGHLY recommend this book!! =D

The CD was broken, we returned the product for exchange for a new book with a unbroken CD. You sent a email saying you received the book and broken CD, but never exchanged it for the return product. So we went to Books a million and purchased it there. You still owe us a refund for the price of a book that we returned to you and you never sent a exchange for. Not happy with Amazon at the moment.
Decent place to start, but missing some key aspects of learning guitar for beginners March 6, 2010 Thomas P. Hess (Chicago, IL) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Although this book does have some good information and illustrations for a beginning guitar player there are some key things that are missing in the book. I teach hundreds of guitar players online and I can tell you what makes the biggest difference in how students learn is not 'what' they are taught, nor is it even 'how' they are taught. The 2 MOST important aspects of learning guitar are:
1. That you learn in a 'geometric guitar learning approach', not a linear one as suggested by this and most other books for guitar.
2. That students have ways to truly monitor the journey they are on. Learning to play guitar is not about 'learning stuff' it's about how your 'journey' of mastering guitar takes place.
This book does not really address either of those critical points. Because of this, as a guitar teacher I don't recommend it as a way to learn to play guitar. That being said, this book is better than most (but not all) other guitar teaching books available.
