5 out of 5 stars Great game, even for grown-ups!   September 7, 2010
Omid Khonsaripour (CA, USA)
If you think you are good with keeping rhythm and synchronized continuous beats, try this game and test yourself!
It is very challenging game. It is hard to resist getting addicted to it!

2 out of 5 stars Not for People with Bad Wrists   August 19, 2010

First, some background. I have played the clarinet for almonst 25 years, and I've played in a variety of band and other performing groups. I've also sung in various choirs. Thus, I consider myself to have a decent sense of rhythm.
In this game, you have to have both rhythm and coordination. There is also a lot of repetitive wrist flicking and wrist tapping. While trying the game, I mastered the concept of the rhythms fairly well, but I did not seem to have the coordination to build the rods or control the glee club singer (two examples of games) in rhythm. I hated the way it makes you play the same game over and over until you master it. Why couldn't I just play a different game that worked on rhythm (I have other games that are like this, such as Brain Age 2)? After multiple attempts to master each game, my left wrist (my writing hand) REALLY bothered me. If you are prone to any sort of carpal tunnel syndrome or other issues, I would NOT recommend this game.
I am truly disappointed I didn't like this game. The rhythm aspect of it is very intriguing. If it had let me pick my game, instead of making me master one game before I could move on to the next one, I would have liked it much better.

5 out of 5 stars i love this game   August 3, 2010
Ashley Billings (NC USA)
everyone who loves those games that are simple yet challenging and have no real deep plot. Then this one will probably be in your top 5 favorite games if not THE favorite game. it tests your ability to time in with the rhythm...at first i wasnt sure if id like it bc it just doesnt look like itd be that much fun. but looks can be very decieving. all the games are very creative and some are down right hilarious like the glee club one where if you mess up your other singers will look at you like your weird. Their faces are priceless. the game where you are a monkey and have to clap in time with the other monkeys is also a very funny one. If you mess up the monkeys look at you with this very angry look. This game is fun for kids and adults alike. So give it a try ive never met anyone who didnt like this game that actually played it.

4 out of 5 stars FUN-ish   June 20, 2010

The game is really fun to play and is challenging, but I get bored of it after a while. After not playing for a while, however, I get the urge to play again. I like the tunes the game has and weird graphics. Overall its a nice game to have on hand when you find yourself in a waiting room.

4 out of 5 stars Rhythm Heaven, Nintendo DSi   June 8, 2010
The DSi Critic (Sacramento, California)
Rhythm Heaven is very much like Guitar Hero, except with more creativity and replay value. The game is played by turning your Nintendo DSi unit horizantally and flicking the touch screen interface with your "good" stylus. I very much prefer using my Dialga Stylus; that pocket monster rules Sable's dreamland anyday. The control is quite unique: notes are played by writing a "quick checkmark" in tune with la música. There is a HUGE variety of songs, some more fun than others. The practice mode tunes especially left my brother feeling low. They are bitter sweet, but when typical gamers think of a training session, they think of an uplifting environment. A boring alternative weakens the practice spirit, which in turn slams players when they start matchoffs for real. That said, Rhythm Heaven is difficult to lay a finger on. It is a creative piece of artistry with some of the brightest colors in a video game since Atari Jaguar's Rayman. May it be too much? Yes, but too many colors are better than a bland medium with weakened paintjobs. When you start a matchoff, a song plays and you flick to its rhythm with wrist's strength. It is a pleasure to endure hours of gameplay just FOR the music. It is quite intuitive, and dear could do no crime from that. Nonetheless, some mini-games are also present to reward our festful eyes, including those from the "endless games" link under menu options. Not entirely necessary, but it is a Domino's Pizza I ain't allergic to. Boy, that says alot! Fun is nowhere to be hidden here, and that "Love Lab" squarefest left me with an enlightened perception of chemistry. Obvious as it is for Nintendo fanboys to know: work with a girl, and you will get some. Rather disgusting, would not say anything else off-limit. In the end, Rhythm Heaven proved to be an innocent title at Nintendo DSi launch, and is well amongst the best music games ever conceived.
